Jhotisha Mugon
University of Victoria
As a teaching professor, Jhotisha specializes in teaching Introduction to Psychology, Psychology in Popular Culture and Biopsychology. She is interested in creating inclusive learning environments where students actively participate in learning activities and course content. Jhotisha is also interested in finding new ways to maintain student engagement within lectures and to keep boredom at bay.
Meghan Gangel
Western Carolina University
Meghan studies the changes in health that occur over childhood into adolescence and emerging adulthood. And how our physiology is shaped by peer and parent relationships. She is currently interested in examining the effects of the stigmatization of obesity on adolescent and emerging adult health.
Diana Sanchez
San Francisco State Unviersity
Diana is an Associate Professor in the Industrial/Organizational Psychology program in the College of Science and Engineering at San Francisco State University (SFSU). She completed her doctoral work at Colorado State University and has worked for over 20 years in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Human Capital Consulting, and Workplace Management. She runs the Workplace Technology Research Lab (WTRL) where she collaborates with students on research topics such as workplace technology, training and development, assessment development and validation, gamification, virtual reality, and virtual teams.
Josh Lovett
University of Illinois Chicago
Josh was a Fulbright Scholar in South Korea, where he spent three years teaching ESL to a wide range of students. He is broadly interested in the social and behavioral contexts of learning, especially in the social-emotional competencies of teachers and how this impacts a variety of factors in the classroom and school.
Kay Bourke
University of Illinois Chicago
After serving as a high school special education teacher, Kay started graduate school in the Community & Applied Developmental Psychology program at the University of Illinois Chicago. Kay’s primary research interests are related to youth mentoring relationships and how to train and support mentors to best support their mentees. Kay is an adjunct instructor at Dominican University, a small, liberal arts, Hispanic serving institution in River Forest, Illinois, where she has taught Introductory Psychology and will be teaching Introduction to Community Psychology.
Paula Hylton
Cannon School
Paula is a high school psychology teacher at Cannon School, which is an independent school in Concord, NC. She teaches both honors level and AP level introductory psychology courses. Paula has 17 years of teaching experience and is currently work on school wide professional development initiatives to connect the science of learning with the art of teaching.
Jarred Jenkins
Anne Arundel Community College
Jarred has a taught a wide variety of psychology courses at a variety of institutions, but his primary focus is introductory psychology, with additional efforts in psychology and law and biopsychology. He has created introductory psychology learning communities and he has particular interest in integrating research into the introductory classroom.
Macmillan Learning is hosting a series of focus groups with Introductory Psychology educators from different institutions and varied teaching experiences to better understand educators' experience with and sentiments about generative AI in teaching and learning. In particular, we will explore the impact and opportunities for generative AI in helping students engage and explore learning in new ways.
Spaces are limited, so apply today. Applications close Friday, January 12, 2024. Instructors selected to participate in one of the focus groups will be notified by the end of the day, Tuesday, January 16th.

The focus group is open to instructors teaching introductory psychology at a higher education institutions, and who have not already participated in an AI focus group with Macmillan Learning. The instructors who participate in the Virtual Meeting submit the post-event survey will receive a $75 gift card*.

Josh Woods is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at Grand View University in Des Moines, IA. He is also the Director of the C0gn1t10n L4b which conducts research on cognitive illusions that impact memory and learning.
Bridgette Martin Hard

Bridgette Martin Hard is a Professor of the Practice in Duke University's Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. In addition to helping found Coast-to-Coast, she co-founded and has managed the Psych One Conference since its inception in 2012 and is also on the steering committee for NITOP.
